Attitude To Learning Grades
This is a description of different approaches to learning. The bulleted list for each grade is an indication of the types of attitude displayed in class. It is a best-fit model, so pupils may not display all of the characteristics in the category. Every child is given an attitude to learning grade each term by their subject teacher. The grade will be recorded on their reports and sometimes in the front of their work book / folder.
Ambitious
- I always participate and contribute in all aspects of the lesson (verbally and written): individual, paired, group and whole class.
- I always behave appropriately so that others can learn effectively.
- I always present my work to the best of my ability as required by the teacher.
- I always display exceptional effort and commitment to my learning.
- I always come to lessons prepared to learn.
- I always display the school values in my attitude to learning.
Engaged
- I usually participate and contribute in all aspects of the lesson (verbally and written): individual, paired, group and whole class.
- I usually behave appropriately so that others can learn effectively.
- I usually present my work to the best of my ability as required by the teacher.
- I usually display exceptional effort and commitment to my learning.
- I usually come to lessons prepared to learn.
- I usually display the school values in my attitude to learning.
Passive
- I sometimes participate and contribute in aspects of the lesson (verbally and written): individual, paired, group and whole class.
- I sometimes behave appropriately so that others can learn effectively.
- I sometimes present my work to the best of my ability as required by the teacher.
- I sometimes display exceptional effort and commitment to my learning.
- I sometimes lack resilience and can be reluctant to keep trying.
- I sometimes come to lessons prepared to learn.
- I sometimes display the school values in my attitude to learning.
Reluctant
- I rarely participate and contribute in aspects of the lesson (verbally and written): individual, paired, group and whole class.
- I rarely behave appropriately so that others can learn effectively.
- I rarely present my work to the best of my ability as required by the teacher.
- I rarely display exceptional effort and commitment to my learning.
- I make poor choices that can impact on my learning and the learning of others.
- I rarely come to lessons prepared to learn.
- I rarely display the school values in my attitude to learning.
